The installation is meant to address the issues of sustainability and temporary architecture. It will be over 10 metres tall, feature tensile components by the architects, and a specially commissioned sound piece by Bill Fontana.
The public is invited to assist from 10 am to 12pm, and then to help raise the structure at 2 pm. The sound piece and installation can be experienced until 6:30 pm. Its location on Exhibition Road will be closed to non-pedestrians so that a range of outdoor events may take place. The event coincides with the “2008 Exhibition Road Music Day,“ a free music festival involving all the cultural institutions along Exhibition Road.
The London Festival of Architecture runs from June 20th through July 20th.
