Wanesey Street housing - De Rijke Marsh Morgan Architects

A south London gap site between different typologies, different brick colours, and between private and public spaces.

The development is divided into four apartment blocks with three separate entrances leading to communal open circulation, plus a fourth entrance to a lift core. These entrance ‚gaps’ also lead to the communal south facing garden, towards which the fully glazed living rooms open out with large balconies and roof terraces.

The accommodation mixes 61 percent social or affordable (shared ownership) housing with 39 percent private sale and has been designed with shared stairwells and interlinking units in order to promote social integration.

Timber Towers, Rundeskogen, Sandnes, Norway

Timber Towers - De Rijke Marsh Morgan Architects

Stavanger architects Helen & Hard invited dRMM to collaborate on a project for ‚sustainable high-rise housing’ for developer Kruse Smith in Sandnes; a small site in a spectacular natural setting on the west coast of Norway.

dRMM´s research, working with the Norwegian Timber Research Institute and KLH Sweden, led them to explore the limits of what is currently possible in laminated mass timber construction. The design options now range from a concrete hybrid core with cantilevered timber apartments to a 100 percent timber construction. The latter would position the Timber Tower as the world’s highest wood buildings.
