Interior design and architecture in Cologne
This week, from 14th to 20th January 2008, Cologne becomes the European centre of interior design and decoration at the annual international furnishing show imm cologne 2008. Approximately 1,300 exhibitors will present their products and concepts at the Cologne Trade Fair and at numerous showrooms in the city.
The fair’s focus lies for the first time ever on a special guest country, the Netherlands. It not only highlights Dutch design and its significance in an international context, but gives a large overview of the national characteristics, as well. Beside the presentation of ideas for future living forms that have been created by Dutch designers and architects, one of the country’s most famous architects, Ben van Berkel from UN Studio Amsterdam has created the design for the imm pure section in Hall 11. Imm pure is just another highlight on the list of this year’s exhibition and event specials, providing a platform not only for furniture but also for complete lifestyle philosophies.
Another exciting architectural event is enriching the supporting programme of the imm cologne 2008 as well: The congress Architecture Code Cologne takes place for the second time on Saturday, 19th January in Hall 2.1, its major theme being city ports. Leading architects, urban planners and designers will be holding presentations and panel discussions addressing major urban port projects, such as those in Hamburg, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam.
