The new faculty building for the Luigi Bocconi University in Milan, designed by the Irish practice Grafton Architects, has won the first World Building of the Year Award at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona. It was selected as from 224 shortlisted buildings and 17 finalists.

During a two day conference titled „Architecture and Identity“ questions concerning the globalisation of architecture and the coherent issue of architectural identity will be discussed in the Hesperia Tower in Barcelona.

During a three-day event taking place in the Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona (CCIB) from 22 – 24 October, the Festival will showcase and compare not only a wide range of international architecture but also regional projects.

The World Architecture Festival is one of this year's biggest architectural events, which will take place from 22-24 October in Barcelona. As part of the festival a prestigious architectural award opens for entries on April 15, the deadline being 20 June 2008. Judges include world-renowned architects such as Hadid, Foster, Meier and Jencks.

Six major European architectural institutions announced the 5th EUROPEAN PRIZE FOR URBAN PUBLIC SPACE for interventions to improve or create public spaces, carried out in European cities in 2006 and 2007. The deadline for submissions of entries is on March 15, the awards taking place in June 2008 in Barcelona.

FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou Stadium, one of the world’s greatest football venues, is to be extensively remodelled. Following an international competition, Foster + Partners have been selected as the architects for this renewal of the stadium, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
