The young office NORD Architects has won the competition for a new healthcare center for cancer patients. The healthcare center is an independent institution where patients with cancer and their families can get counselling and rehabilitation.

After a construction period of six years, the Copenhagen Concert Hall by Jean Nouvel opened last Saturday evening. It is part of the new DR (Danmark Radio) Town located in the northern part of Ørestad, a new residential and commercial district on the outskirts of the city centre.

At a press conference in Copenhagen last week, it was announced that Steven Holl Architects is the winner of the international design competition, “The LM Project.” The winning proposal connects office towers and civic spaces with a public walkway 65 meters above the harbour and is intended to form an iconic landmark for Copenhagen’s waterfront.

Copenhagen based 3XN win the design competition for a new aquarium, “The Blue Planet,“ scheduled to open in 2013 in their hometown. The contemporary waterfront building is inspired by the whirling streams of the sea and draws you “into the deep“ as principal Kim Herforth Nielsen puts it.

From April 17 to May 18, 2008 the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in Copenhagen, Denmark is showing the touring exhibition of Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. The exhibition presents Aalto’s relationship with tradition, innovation and nature through the medium of materials, construction, rhythm, detail and changes in form.

A new highlight within the cultural landscape of the Danish capital Copenhagen was opened on February 16th, 2008. The new waterfront building for the Royal Theatre was designed by Danish architects Boje Lundgaard and Lene Tranberg.
