The newly completed Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff – Wales’ national music and drama conservatoire – opened in October 2011 to a new intake of students.

Leading international design studio Urban Art Projects (UAP) in collaboration with Fairweather Proberts Architects have completed the 60m high ‘Breakwater Beacon’. The work is the centre piece of the new King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), a USD 7 billion world-class research institution located at Thuwal Point, overlooking the Safaa Harbor and the Red Sea, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Prizes for one of the largest competitions in the field of sustainable architecture are currently being awarded in several countries. Presented every three years, the Holcim Award in 2009 will go to projects from Morocco, Vietnam, China and the US.

Corporations and Cities – Envisioning Corporate Real Estate in the Urban Future, is trying to deepen the understanding on this new field by a series of workshops and publications. Organized by the Faculty of Architecture at the Delft University of Technology, the event steps up to its central colloquium from 26-28 May 2008.
