How do I pay?
- We will invoice you upon receipt of your order.
- If you live outside Germany, we will send you a pro forma invoice. For urgent cases, we can do this by email as a PDF file, which includes our bank details. If you live in Germany, we can also debit your account, semi-annually or annually.
- If you reside in Austria or Switzerland, you can pay in EUR or CHF by bank transfer to our account in Vienna or Zurich.
- If you do not live in Germany, you also have the following option:
- The cheapest method for you to pay is by credit card.
- We accept the following: AMEX, Diners Club, VISA, MasterCard, and require your card number and expiry date for charging the amount due.
- Please note that you save banking fees for transfers to our account, if you use SWIFT and IBAN numbers stated on our invoice.
Do you have a secure connection for transmitting my credit card number?
All the data sent via our online shop at www.detail.de is encrypted and secure. When you use this service, please make sure that you state your address, and enter the outstanding invoice number in the message field.
What is a VAT tax ID?
If you live in any EU nation other than Germany, you must enter your VAT, IVA, or numero Partita IVA – to avoid paying sales tax. When you do so, you will save the sales tax (value added tax), currently at 7%.
What kind of student ID is acceptable, and how and where should I send it?
Please send a copy of your valid student registration from your university by fax to +49 6123 9238 212, or by email to detailabo@vertriebsunion.de or by mail to:

We offer rebates to students on the following publications:
- Subscriptions to DETAIL or DETAIL ENGLISH
- Construction Manuals in German (all except the Energy Manual)
No discount is offered on:
- Single issues of DETAIL**
- Books from the IN DETAIL or DETAIL PRACTICE series
- Construction Manuals in English
**
** Please note the offers in the magazines or on our Web
site: 5 for 4 - 10 for 7:

Why don’t you offer rebates on books to students??
We cannot discount books from the IN DETAIL and DETAIL PRACTICE series, because these are also sold in bookstores and are subject to an agreement that prohibits discounting by booksellers.
How long will it take for my DETAIL books/magazines to arrive? How do you ship them?
Books or magazines destined for Germany are normally ready for shipment within 2 days, and are typically delivered in 3 to 4 days. We usually use the Deutsche Post AG for mail orders weighing up to 1,000 g, and DHL for the rest as parcels.
- A parcel takes roughly 10 days to be delivered within Europe.
- Shipments abroad by sea/land require about 6 to 8 weeks.
