A symposium for architects and plannersInterest in innovative materials, intelligent construction, visionary ideas, concrete demands or simply the pure pleasure gained from designing – the reasons for designing new products and buildings can vary widely. At the symposium, international experts from the fields of architecture and design will present their outstanding projects and provide insights into the design process. The themesSHAPE AND DESIGN The plain severity of recent years is now being replaced
by increasingly softer shapes, whilst innovative materials
and improved production processes have opened up a wide
spectrum of design possibilities to product designers,
enabling them to radically reassess traditional product
shapes. NEW MATERIALS New materials are being developed all the time, while
existing materials are continuously being improved and
production processes optimised. Intelligent solutions are
in greater demand than ever, while companies such as material
ConneXion are seeking new materials all around the world
and working on groundbreaking new production processes EXPERIMENTAL ARCHITECTURE New offices in particular are seeking to create new
ways of living and working, and are not afraid of adopting
experimental approaches. Not everything that is experimental
needs to be constructible and implemented in the exact
way laid down by the architect. Much more important is
the idea that lies behind it, which in itself can give
birth to the new. EXCEPTIONAL BUILDING PROJECTSGRAFT consider their work as an interplay and -action of multiple architectural influences, styles and methods, of individual taste and different cultures, that merge to a new shape and so create their own character. VISIONARY CONCEPTSUrban planning, large cultural buildings, internationally-prestigious
projects – construction undertakings of this kind are desirable
challenges for planners but at the same time involve considerable
responsibility. This is because only the successful balancing
of aesthetics, functionality and design, as well as the right
sensitivity for social needs, turns large building projects
into unique architecture. TRENDSETTING CONSTRUCTIONS Large spans, daring tower blocks and complex structures
are sought out by structural engineers and engineering
offices as welcome challenges, and the inclusion of the
latter in the design process during its early stages can
allow seemingly poetic constructions and light supporting
structures to become reality. Speaker Erick van Egeraat Lars Krückebeg Prof. Klaus Bollinger Werner Aisslinger Martin Lesjak Rolf Warda Programm
