Architect Ibos, Jean-Marc | Vitart, Myrto | Structural Engineer Kephren Ingenierie |

Forming part of the city’s programme to establish itself as an important cultural centre, the extension and refurbishment of the Musée des Beaux-Arts include a 720 m2 horizontally glazed area at ground floor level through which daylight enters the new exhibition spaces in the basement. The slightly sloping glass surface (1%) is supported by six aluminium-clad steel beams in which air-conditioning and lighting are housed. The 5.45 x 1.90 m glass panels above the beams are supported by a grid of steel channels. The administration is accommodated in an adjoining tract. The façade consists of 416 double-glazed panels, the outer panes of which, in mirror safety glass, are printed with a silver grid and reflect the Palais opposite.
