This prize-winning competition scheme for “terrace housing of the future” comprises 28 dwelling units of different sizes. The development consists of two- to three-storey terrace houses with small gardens, as well as two-room dwellings on the ground floor and maisonettes at the top, which are reached via an external staircase. A distinguishing feature of the four blocks is the curved roof form that is echoed internally by the vaulted soffit over the top floor. The façades are clad with black slabs, the roofs with black roofing felt. All houses have an integrated double-height conservatory that provides additional living space and can be used nearly all year round. The conservatories also enable daylight to penetrate to the internal spaces.
