House in Munich

documentation    p. 1168 - 1169
Architect b17 Planungsbüro | de la Ossa, Tobias | Kühleis, Martin | Stierhof, Klaus | Structural Engineer Prüfer, Wolfgang |

The brief required a compact, economical, architecturally restrained building that would also be energy-saving in use. The architects designed a low-energy house with a floor area of 141 m2. Large areas of glazing to the west face and a south-facing collector installation allow the active and passive exploitation of solar energy. The highly insulated construction consists of a timber frame with prefabricated wall and floor elements. The gable ends are clad in uncoated cement-bonded flat panels. The west façade has a variable appearance as a result of the sliding-pivoting sunscreen elements. These consist of panels with horizontal larch louvres. The lower shutter element can be slid aside or cranked up to form a sunscreen pergola.
