The form of this garage, with space for more than 500 vehicles, was influenced by a bastion tower on the site and developed from the spiralling ramps at the ends. The decks, which consist of filigree floor elements with a reinforced concrete topping, are fixed via shear-stud connectors to a supporting structure of steel beams and columns. The vertical softwood lathes to the facade facilitate the natural lighting and ventilation of the interior. Around the outside of part of the building is a second, outer layer of transparent wire mesh. In the space between these two skins, a precast concrete staircase rises up the face of the building, providing access to the individual parking levels and articulating the facade.
