The redesign of this roughly 100 ? 40 m pier gives it a clear orientation to the sea and creates a meeting place for the villagers as well as a space for various events. Two travertine paths 80 m long with simple steel railings lead out towards the sea and demarcate the pier from the beach. The area between these strips is paved with light- and dark-grey concrete slabs. The rows of 9-metre-high Å-section columns along both edges of the pier create a sense of spatial definition. Steel canopy roofs fixed between alternate pairs of columns provide protection for the woven metal-strip benches. At the heads of the columns are spotlights. Two 12-metre-high lighting masts terminate the space at the sea end and frame the view to the horizon.
