The house for a single person is an increasingly common building type in Japan. It allows layouts such as the present one, where most activities are concentrated in the tube-like main space. The structure consists of a system of steel frames turned at an angle to each other. Arectangular tower in exposed concrete on one side of the elongated tract forms a compositional counterweight. The two volumes are tied together by a glazed balcony. The tower contains a guest room on the ground floor andsanitary spaces on the level above. The long faces of the house are clad externally in sheet zinc, the end faces in oxidized sheet steel. Internally, the white walls are contrasted with a variety of floor finishes
