On 9 November 2001, more than 60 years after the destruction of the old synagogue in Dresden, a new centre was consecrated where the city’s Jewish community can congregate, learn, celebrate and hold religious services. The new synagogue, a windowless cubic structure, forms a striking termination to the famous Brühl Terrace on the River Elbe.
