The site occupied by the present building was long regarded as undevelopable because of its awkward shape. With its unusual concept, the new structure relativizes the division between private and public realm. The street facade was set back for part of its width to form a deep recess, while the uniform pavings on the ground floor create the impression of apublic arcade. The loft-type dwellings are 26m deep and have a maximum width of 5.70m. The large living space with an open kitchen terminates in a “mírame” (literally: “look at me”), a projecting glazed lookout that offers broad views of the surroundings. The bathroom is a free-standing element within the more private area of the dwelling.
