From 1985 to 2000, the author was chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors of the Forschungsinstitut für Wärmeschutz e.V. (Research Institute for Thermal Insulation) in Munich. He has also worked on national and international standards committees and on committees of the German Institute for Building Technology in Berlin. He is the author of numerous specialist articles and books.
