The experimental laboratories of this research centre are enclosed by an exposed concrete strip that screens the magnetic fields within from external influences. With a series of further convolutions, this wrap-around strip continues from floor to wall to roof to facade and back again, accommodating the various ancillary spaces of the complex in a structure of constant thickness that is recognizable at many points through its special edge design.
