High Performance Concretes
technology p. 374 - 384Modern research has led to the development of new kinds of concrete of much higher strength and quality than is possible with traditional types. Using various mixes, additives and new methods of reinforcement, it is possible to control the density and setting time, to reduce the structural volume and to avoid cracking, thereby ensuring an unblemished surface. The materials discussed in this article include high-strength concrete, fibre- and textile-reinforced concrete, self-compacting concrete and reactive-powder concrete.
