Refurbishment and Modernization of Olympic Stadium in Berlin

The renovation and modernisation of the Olympic Stadium in Berlin for the football World Cup in 2006 requires the coordination of often conflicting requirements of the heritage listed construction and the modern demands for multifunctional usage of a football stadium. The building project is under the management of the architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners who comment upon their various plans for retention of the existing built fabric, with reference to the protection of heritage items, and the technical modernisation and construction of the new roofing for the grandstand.
