Lightweight construction techniques have an extensive range of applications. The short construction time and economy of membrane constructions make them particularly appropriate for mobile and short-term temporary projects. Further consideration of the material properties and possibilities of lightweight construction systems allow for more permanent albeit still highly economical building solutions. The author discusses here the pertinent points of material properties, particularly in relation to extension and renovation projects.
