Belgium, a country where there has always been a strong industrial emphasis on the production and working of raw materials, is also a major supplier of stone. In the Walloon region alone, 17 different types are quarried today. Although stone has been used in Belgium itself only sparingly hitherto, it is now increasingly finding its way into the architecture of that country. After a brief introduction, the author presents a number of current examples.
