The “eBo” pavilion was created as an information point for future urban developments in Bologna. The two elliptical entrance structures at street level are situated in front of the Palazzo del Podestà and were designed to attract visitors to the exhibitions housed in a disused underground shopping arcade. The latter is reached via a straight-flight staircase. The transparent enclosure of the pavilion consists of a layer of vertical perspex tubes joined by plastic rings, with an outer skin of curved glass. Warm air flowing between the two layers serves to heat the building and avoid condensation. Coloured LED lighting at the foot of the tubes transforms the structure into a striking illuminated object at night.
