report p. 786 - 790Architect Calatrava, Santiago |
Santiago Calatrava recreated the existing Olympic domain for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. The top priority was to reorganize the complex and to produce a unified image.
The roof constructions of the Velodrome and the Olympic Stadium, hung with printed banners, became the emblems of the games. Other design elements include the “Agora”, a colonnade within steel arcades, and “Nation´s Wall”, a 500 metre long sculpture of mobile rectangular pipes.
