Border Post in Tisis

documentation    p. 801 - 804
Architect AIX Architects | Structural Engineer M+G Ingenieure |

The roof of the border station in the mountains is thin in the extreme; the 38 x 22 metre surface structure is constructed of steel ribs welded together like a ship´s hull, and balanced on only two columns. The steel, which is air tight and water proof thereby obviating the need for both impermeable membranes and steel connections, is welded into a hollow body. A construction of fascinatingly minimalistic details being the result.
