Religious Diversity – Diversity of Built Forms

typology    p. 950 - 957
Author Peter, Franz | Wimmer, Franz |

In the course of history, among various peoples and in different cultures, an immense diversity of beliefs and religions has evolved. This finds expression in an almost 3,000-year tradition of creating buildings for worship and religious assembly: churches, monasteries, prayer houses, temples, mosques and synagogues.
Franz Peter and Franz Wimmer present the five classical world religions – Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam – and their respective architecture.
