Urban entrances

report    p. 1270 - 1271
Author Hassenpflug, Dieter |

The question of the entrance to the city is an integral part of our modern times; the cities, being propelled by the enormous forces of industrialisation and commercialisation, have totally lost control. Villagers have become city dwellers, country idylls have been transformed into high performance landscapes. Cities continue to expand and spread, their spatial boundaries apparently existing only to be overwhelmed by new developments, residential suburbs, industrial parks and their associated traffic requirements.
