In the heart of Munich, not far from the ”Fünf Höfe” (Herzog & de Meuron), the HypoVer-einsbank carried out another remarkable conversion – this time for its own top management. The complex retains its historic facades, a monumental aspect that serves this major banking group’s image very well. Even when it was originally constructed, at the turn of the 20th century, the “Königliche Filialbank” concealed a modern interior behind its neobaroque facade: It had one of Bavaria’s first steel frames, the original columns of which are still visible today in the sober, restrained atmosphere of its conference rooms.
The original interior only survived until the 1950s. Also included in this renovation and extension project were the adjacent Preysing Palais and other neighbouring buildings. A narrow, high entrance way retains the independence of the buildings, which are linked to each other via bridges. In the basement and raised ground floor of the old bank building, a listed structure, a communications space was created for customer events, conferences, lectures and press conferences.
