The architect names this house on a minuscule leftover site Lucky Drop in reference to a Japanese proverb for “best things last”. Its dimensions on the ends are 0.70–3.20 m. Aggravating matters, zoning required a 0.50 m setback at the front. To gain more space, the living area is situated below ground level. The site’s shape is transferred in a curved version to the building’s section, lending it an elegant, exalted appearance. PC panels admit daylight to all areas of the house. The mezzanine is not a dividing element: the flooring is of expanded metal mesh. Despite the constraints, the clients won’t have to do without the traditional entry space where the shoes are removed, nor the shielded living space.
