Integration of Ventilation Systems - The core of Energy-Conscious Renovation

technology    p. 1292 - 1298
Author Pfluger, Rainer |

Energy-conscious renovation provides buildings with an insulating envelope. Because, as a rule, this is accompanied with an increase in air-tightness, a ventilation system must be installed to guarantee the necessary air-exchange rate. With heat-recovery systems which pre-warm the cold, fresh air, ventilation-related heat loss can be minimised.
This article will delineate the beneficial integration of such systems which, due to the limited space in the existing building, often proves to be difficult. Different possible solutions – with respect to space requirements and costs – will be discussed.
