Sustainable Building

discussion    p. 600 - 605
Author Schwarz, Dietrich |

About 40% of the lifetime running costs of a building can be saved by the optimisation of energy conservation measures. Sustainable construction is by no means an independent architectural language, even when the implementation of innovative materials continually leads to new aesthetics. Rather an energy-efficient structure, with an intelligent built envelope and balanced technical services, can be created through the selection and application of the correct building materials.
