"Energy efficiency begins with the individual" - A Plea for Sustainable Construction

Energy efficiency starts with the individual. I believe that great potential for sustainable energy production and conservation lies with the municipal centres. If local communities and rural regions were all to pull together, we could save on a considerable amount of nuclear power, replacing it with modern, ecologically sound technologies and innovative concepts. One of the central planning instruments of energy conservation in Germany is the so called Energy Saving Regulation, the EnEV. The EnEV is responsible for guiding constructional planning processes toward energetically optimised buildings through the application of comprehensive principles. It provides reliable and unambiguous planning regulations for the achievement of energy efficiency.
