Hitherto, both the kindergarten and the local brass band in Egg, Austria, occupied provisional quarters. For that reason, a joint use of the new building was proposed. The children can let off steam on the ground floor, while the upper floor is reserved for the musicians. To ensure an acoustic division, the rehearsal room is housed in a timber cube set on top of the concrete northern tract. The local authority required the use of natural materials from the region. The group spaces and the upper floor were, therefore, constructed with prefabricated timber units. The facades and floors are in native silver fir. Concrete surfaces were left exposed, while the internal timber structure was clad in birch plywood.
