From Lid to Landscape – The Programmed Roof from Modernism to the Present Day

discussion    p. 6 - 12
Author Roland Pawlitschko |

By the early 20th century, almost no other architect had tackled the subject of roof design with as much vigour as Le Corbusier. Nevertheless, more than half a century separates his iconic architectural structures from his both natural and consistent inclusion of roof areas in his building concepts. The technical factors limiting the design of roof spaces have since been resolved, and their concepts liberated from ideological constraints – meaning that reimagined architectural and roof landscapes are now a part of the architect’s usual repertoire.
