Energy efficiency in an extreme climate

The Preikestolen, which means pulpit rock, rises vertically 600 metres out of the Lysefjord, ending in a plateau, from which there is a wonderful view. For the many tourists who make their way to the top of this rock formation, a new mountain lodge has been erected half way between the fjord and the rock. The lodge has 28 bedrooms and a restaurant/café. Preikestolen Fjellstue is a timber construction through and through: the walls and floors are all made of dowelled laminated plywood.
