The master plan for Masdar City arose from a competition launched in October 2006. In the competition phase a team was formed under the leadership of Foster + Partners – this included architects, energy and infrastructure consultants, specialists in building technology and solar systems, and offices of transport planning and landscape architecture. In an interview with DETAIL Green, Matthias Schuler, CEO of energy planners Transsolar, explains the energy concept for this new, CO2-neutral city.
