The first residential building in Switzerland to gain the Minergie-P-Eco rating stands on the southern outskirts of the city of Bern. A multifamily house, it was built by the architectural practice of Halle 58, owned and run by architect Peter Schürch, who himself lives there. Despite meeting high standards in terms of its architectural design as well as ecological and energy performance, the three apartments were more cost-effective to build than comparable, conventionally built apartments in the immediate neighbourhood.
