In the course of refurbishing a 1970’s house, a mobile wall with garden furniture, crockery and lighting was installed that – together with an artificial lawn – sets the scene for a picnic on the roof. The wall can be wound up vertically and serves, in a lowered state, as a partition between the staircase and a store in which the various objects for the garden are kept. In a raised position, the wall becomes a background element on the roof, from which the various objects for the picnic can be easily removed. The construction consists of an ordinary sliding door in composite wood boarding clad with steel sheeting. The element runs on vertical tracks and is manually operated by means of cable pulleys with a counterweight.
