Even in countries where there is a keener debate of these issues and a higher proportion of outstanding architecture, the general built environment is scarcely better than elsewhere. To increase public sensibility in this area, one would need to start at the grass roots, namely in the schools, where building culture should be an independent subject and not just an exotic appendage of general art studies.
