Content of issue 5/2005 Refurbishment
|
|
Reparation of damage, faithful restoration, sensitive renovation or creative reuse of the built fabric - the topic of refurbishment covers an extensive variety of endeavours. The latest issue of DETAIL addresses this subject in all its diversity. The discussion articles focus on examples from Eastern Europe, where the fall of the iron curtain created an enormous demand for the renovation and rehabilitation of the built environment. Our documentation articles are in-depth and highly detailed - presenting the Law Faculty Library in Zurich by Santiago Calatrava and the juxtaposition of projects set in picturesque Alpine landscape and inner-city contexts. The technical articles consider such topics as vacuum insulation systems and the usage of capillary-active internal < insulation in the restoration of protected historic monuments. Innovations in the field of building products, relevant to the topic, round off the issue. Content in Issue 5/2005
