In their dedicated attempts to achieve respectable solutions – usually to a low budget – architects and designers are constantly faced with new challenges. Nevertheless, the painstaking labour involved in achieving the best solution often pays off – and not only in relation to costs. In design terms, too, the examples presented in this issue of Detail – although more modest and less florid – need fear no comparison with exclusive residences. Content in Issue 4/2007
