Express yourself at the Surface and Materials Show

Surfaces and materials separate the dull from the dazzling, the bland from the brilliant and the sapless from the stimulating; bringing designs to life.

That is why this year’s Surface and Materials Show, as part of UK Construction Week (UKCW), is overflowing with zestful products including coatings, cladding, panels, flooring and finishes that will steal the show and designs at Birmingham’s NEC between 9 – 11 October.

Architects, interior designers and specifiers hungry for the latest products and materials will be inspired by this year’s exhibitors including: BLFA, Bruag, Formica, Pfleiderer and Soyang Europe.

Visitors can browse the latest surface and material products and launches, including International Decorative Surfaces’ new Showerwall & Malmo bathroom panelling system; OnLevel who will be exclusively launching a rival to their popular preassembled Juliet balcony system; Fibo whose high-performance wall panels are a quick, affordable and stylish alternative to tiles; and Bushboard who will be showcasing its Nuance bathroom panels, highlights from its new Omega and Options work surface collections and its new Evolve solid core range.

Practical demonstrations and stimulating discussions will glitter the event, with opportunities to expand knowledge on:

•    Future vision volume II: A trend and colour forecast for design in 2018/19
•    Bionic Buildings
•    Visual concrete: The rough with the smooth
•    Transforming our experience of different spaces

Confirmed speakers include Barbara Res, engineer, lawyer and project manager behind Trump Tower, Ben Derbyshire, HTA Design chairman and RIBA president, Nigel Ostime, project delivery director at Hawkins / Brown, Elsie Owusu, principal at Elsie Owusu Architects, Nina Bailey, UK design manager at Formica Group Europe, Graham Brown, director at Envelope Architects, Elaine Toogood, senior architect at MPA, the Concrete Centre and Emily Campbell, artist and owner at Blue Butterfly Flooring.

Architects keen to expand their knowledge industry-wide will also have access to the other UK Construction Week shows: Building Tech Live, Timber Expo, Civils Expo, Energy 2018, Plant & Machinery Live, HVAC 2018, Build Show, as well as Grand Designs Live on 10 and 11 October.

Nathan Garnett, UKCW event director, said:
"At UK Construction Week we are focused on showcasing innovation from all sectors and making it easier for architects to update their CPD, get inspired by amazing people and projects, and walk away with practical information on new technologies, systems, products and collaborations from around the world that would otherwise take months to research. UK Construction Week brings together all stakeholders within the built environment across every facet of design, build and product innovation."
