In April 2016, under the leadership of Mike Schlaich, a two-week workshop in the Peter Behrens Hall, Berlin, brought five qualified bricklayers from India together with building engineering students of the University of Technology, Berlin. In tests, the ferrocement modules that were created showed a better load-bearing and ductile behaviour than expected. The material, therefore, possesses a great potential for use in economical lightweight forms of construction.
