The process engineer holds a doctorate in chemistry and, in cooperation with William McDonough, developed the cradle-to-cradle (C2C) concept in the 1990s. He is founder and director of the Hamburg-based Environmental Protection Encouragement Agency EPEA. The consulting institute supports corporations in embedding circular processes within their value chains. Since 2008 Michael Braungart holds the Cradle-to-Cradle professorship at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is also professor for Eco-Design at Leuphana University of Lüneburg.
