Matteo Thun was born in 1952 and studied architecture at the university in Florence. From 1980 to 1984, he was a partner of Sottsass Associati. In 1981, he became a co-founder of the Memphis group and in 1984 founded his own practice in Milan. His designs are manufactured by Arteluce, Arzberg, Bulgari, Kartell, Villeroy & Boch, Vorwerk, WMF and Zucchetti among others. His office is responsible for numerous interior designs, including shop interiors.

The Glasshouse Theatre adds a fifth venue to the heritage-listed Queensland Performing Arts Centre. It can be flexibly used for concerts, operas, and dance and theatre performances. The glass facades of the deeply cantilevered foyer visualise the theatrical art of illusion on the exterior.
