The Rebirth of a Multi-Storey Car Park
One of Switzerland's largest reuse projects is currently under construction in the southeast of Basel. Commissioned by the cantonal property management authority, the architectural practice Parabase is planning around 150 flats using the concrete elements from a demolished multi-storey car park.
Acoustics becomes part of the wall
More than 800 bespoke panels form the pleated wall of the Feng Chia University auditorium in Taiwan. Kengo Kuma & Associates and Kvadrat Acoustics developed them using project-specific 3D models.
Routine School Construction as a Renovation Project
In 1980, Jean Nouvel's Collège Anne Frank in the south of Paris reduced the state-mandated model for industrialised school buildings to the level of farce. Mars Architectes has now renovated the dilapidated building and helped to give new relevance to this architectural provocation.
A system for spaces in between
What is a workstation today can become a viewing stand tomorrow: 'Reset' by Vitra and Stephan Hürlemann organises spaces with 75 cm platforms. Without permanent installation, the modules can form platforms, seating steps or work areas and be rearranged as needs change.
Education Centre in Kössen by Pedevilla Architects
Drawing inspiration from the architectural style of local residential buildings and farmhouses, the new education centre in Kössen boasts a colourful design. Children can enjoy an entertaining scavenger hunt as they search for the cross-stitch motif found throughout the building, which is presented in a variety of materials, sizes and colours.
