Cable Railway Stations in Innsbruck

The concept for the four new stations of the cable railway is based on two contrasting elements – the lightweight, free forms of the glazed roofs (resembling glacial landscapes) and the boldly shaped concrete plinths. At the same time, the sculptural forms harmonize with the local topography and the urban context. The flowing lines of the Congress Centre station roof, for example, are integrated in their surroundings, while at the Löwenhaus station the dynamics of the River Inn are reflected in the undulating form. The Alpenzoo station is distinguished by a glass tower, the Hungerburg station by a curving S-shaped roof. Despite these differences, the formal links between all four locations remain legible.
