Louis Vuitton Flagship Store in Guam

Guam is an unincorporated territory of the US and an important military base in the western Pacific. The artificial stone facade of this new store, which reproduces the LV brand monogram of the Louis Vuitton company in a continuous, repetitive pattern, has to withstand earthquakes and typhoons. The elements were, therefore, suspended from stainless-steel brackets and struts. The grille-like openings not only create attractive lighting effects internally; they also help to protect the building against damage from storms. The ground floor facade is entirely in glass with showcase windows. Here, transparent glazing is overlaid with translucent checked patterns to create a slightly shimmering effect for passers-by.
