Situated in the north of Portugal, the estate originally consisted of an extensive tract of land that was used for agriculture and forestry. Today, the grounds are little more than seven acres in area and are owned by a family of four. Surrounded by vines and a stone wall, the old manor house, an outhouse and a garden with a belvedere and an imposing Baroque fountain have survived. At the wish of the owners, Alvaro Siza restored the old house, converted the ancillary building into a dwelling for the daughter and her family, and extended the facilities with a swimming pool, a garage, a tennis court and a small chapel consecrated to Santo Ovidio.
