An overriding goal of the planning of this site, which is close to the centre of Straubing in Bavaria, was the development of a district with various forms of housing for people of all ages and walks of life. An initial four-storey tract was erected in 2008, and in 2011, the present three-storey northern strip was taken into occupation. On the two upper floors, there are eight 4- to 5-room maisonettes for families, while the ground floor contains two tracts for senior citizens, each with four dwelling units. These independent two-room flats with their own kitchens and bathrooms are linked by a spacious access zone that forms a realm for common activities. The subsidized, shared dwelling tracts were designed without barriers for up to eight self-sufficient persons. Care services are not foreseen.
